Other things to note
Barmah has the distinction of being the only Victorian town located north of the border. The Barmah National Park is home to the largest river red gum forest in the world. The area known as the Barmah choke ( or narrows ) when it floods it is an important breeding ground for the Murray cod . It is rich in bird species and is the breeding ground for the superb parrot, Barmah has a population of 229
